Can Arsenal finally win the league?

Arsenal are off to a flying start to the new season. The emphatic thumping of  Manchester United may be  an early statement of intent or it just another case of spark in the dark! For two  decades, the premier league crown has eluded the gunners. For the better part of this period, the club has been under the tutelage of legendary manager Arsene Wenger. 'Le professeur' as popularly dubbed was at the  the helm; guiding the London outfit to the famous invincible's season. After the couping the golden title for going the whole season undefeated, the fortunes of the gunners just petered out into oblivion.

After guiding Arsenal to the premier league glory in 2003/04, and overseeing the establishment of the Emirates stadium from a scratch and the transition thereafter, Wenger endured a difficult spell at top of arsenal hierarchy until his inevitable departure in the summer of 2018.

One may argue that the switch to the Emirates spelt doom the club because since making the 60,000 seater the new home, it has never tasted premier league triumph. Far from that unsubstantive notion, there are myriad reasons that rightly explain the incredible premier league failure so far including mass exodus of stars, ineffective transfer strategy, managerial instability just to list a few.

During this protracted epl wait, Arsenal has produced moments of brilliance especially in cup competitions. The gunners have managed to  clinch  five FA Cup titles including two on the bounce. The club is currently the most successful club in the competition with the a record 14 titles.

Without downplaying the enormity of success in cup competitions, it is generally accepted that the benchmark of  dominance in English football is tied to the consistent triumph in top flight Football. Five Cup titles in just  under two decades in the oldest, largest and one of the most prestigious cup tournaments seems a decent run for most clubs but not for Arsenal. Anyone connected to the the club will tell you that's far from what is expected.

Concerted efforts have been put force in a bid to return the Emirates club to the pinnacle of English football and save it from trolls but so far, they have come short. The closest the gunners has been to quenching their title thirst was the last season's campaign. Mikel Arteta's men made the premier league summit their stranglehold for most of the season only to let it slip between their hands in the run-in!

Armed with marquee summer signings in the shape of Declan Rice and  Kai Haverzt, the North Londoners are laying their intentions bare. Four games into the season, they are already  showing a possibility of another fierce duel with Manchester City for the title but how  realistic is the challenge? Is this a genuine title tilt or just another case of sparks in the dark? We'll find out in come May!

KICD makes New Changes to JSS curriculum

Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD)  has made a flurry of changes to the CBC curriculum in  upper primary and Junior school levels. This is according to the newly published curriculum designs on their official website.  Photo:Courtesy: KICD logo The curriculum developers at the start of the  year, made significant changes to the CBC curriculum framework by rationalizing the content from pre-primary to Junior school. This came as a result of the recommendations  of Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms (PWPER). For instance, the learning areas in Junior School were reduced from 15 to only 9 (all of them being compulsory). This was geared towards addressing the overloads, overlaps and repetition in the related learning areas. KICD swiftly released the rationalized curriculum designs for use in the facilitation of learning as the process of publishing of new  learners' textbooks  in line with the rationalizaton and merger kick...
